The Sherlock actor has impressed us in the past with his huge range of impersonations – his Alan Rickman is flawless – and now he has wowed us again.
The video comes from Letters Live, which sees big names read out letters of important correspondence, both emotional and amusing, between big names of the entertainment industry.
Pasts guests have included Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac, Ian McKellen and Tom Hiddleston.
In the clip, Cumberbatch (who turned 40 yesterday) reads a letter sent from 17-year old Tom Hanks to George Roy Hill, in which he negotiates how the late Hollywood director could help him become ‘a star’:
