Surprisingly enough, they have decided not to pull this stunt in Ireland, for some reason...
Uber have been getting a lot of negative publicity lately, so in an effort to combat all the bad press, they decided to put together this PR stunt in Canada where they are offering people free lifts home, provided they can prove that they're drunk enough.
Dubbing the campaign Uber Safe, they set up a kiosk in Toronto where those who are out and about partying down of an evening can voluntarily get breathalysed to prove that they've had too many drinks to get behind the wheel of their own car, and Uber will send a lift for them for free.
Speaking to Engadget, a spokesperson for the company said that the response has been pretty positive so far and that they'd be open to the idea of installing more kiosks in cities in other places. We're not sure if anyone has suggested Dublin, but they should probably do some extensive work on a profit and loss projection before they attempt it...
