As we reported earlier today, the Twitter account of Rose McGowan, an actress best-known for her work on TV series Charmed, was temporarily suspended as a result of violating Twitter’s rules.
McGowan shared the news of her suspension via Instagram. The actress had been vocal on Twitter in the past number of days about the sexual allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein as well as recent revelations on actor Ben Affleck.
While initially, there were no details offered on the specific ways in which McGowan had violated the rules, they did state that she can delete the tweets that violate its rules to gain access to her account more quickly.
Since then, the social media platform has released the reasons for the suspension in a series of tweets:
We have been in touch with Ms. McGowan's team. We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates our Terms of Service. 1/3

Twitter is proud to empower and support the voices on our platform, especially those that speak truth to power. We stand with the brave women and men who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices. 3/3
