Last night Dublin saw a number of Soap Stars descend on to Dawson Street for the Annual TV Now Awards. It had been a glorious day of sunshine, but my god, *shivers* in the shade it was freezing. So I began to wonder, for the sake of trying to look good and some what glamorous around the stars that I was about to meet, should I brave the cold and bare my shoulders? I decided that I just could not do it, so kept myself well wrapped up, defeating the purpose on putting on my Sunday best. Unfortunately the soap stars weren’t in the same frame of mind with everyone of them sporting  some very bronzed goose bumps.

So, on to the evening at hand, first off who was there. Jack P Shepard, who plays David Platt, and  yes he was wearing just as much make up as he does on screen, if not more. I managed to drag himself and Gray O’Brien, Tony Gordon, over for a chin wag and there were very funny, full of chat and laughter, but I would love to know who gave Jack P the wardrobe advice. I’m sure the invite said Black Tie. The highlight of the night was Jamie Lomas who plays dangerous Warren Fox in Hollyoaks (granted I am speaking on behalf of myself here, the urge to jump him was very strong, but I thought it best not to in the end), who walked the carpet with his girlfriend, Kim Marsh. If there was a real life Best Couple award on the night, they were sure to get it.

Moving on to the ladies, we saw some of the Hollyoaks cast, like Mercedes McQueen and Sasha Valentine. From Emmerdale, Jenna Louise Coleman and Charley Webb, aka Jasmine and Debbie.  The veteran actress, Barbara Windsor, was there to pick up the Soap Legend Award 2009. Now I thought I was small, I’m surprised she can see over the bar in The Vic. But despite the height difference, she was a lovely and very interesting woman and fair play to her for bagging that toy boy. Got to give her credit for that one. Katherine Kelly who plays Becky Granger from Corrie, also had a few words for us about how much she loves Becky and what is coming up in the next few weeks. Very exciting stuff if you’re a fan.

Speaking of fans, I have to admit that it was a very surreal experience seeing how worked up people can get over soap stars. Thanks to their horrendous screaming and wailing I was able to know in advance who was next to interview, I would not like to be signing autographs for them, god knows what they would do.

Of course we will have all the interviews with the soap stars tomorrow so, be sure to have a look (just putting the finishing touches to them now!). If you can’t wait that long, then head on over to Caught Out for a gander at all the photos.
