More sad news this morning with the announcement that former 'Strictly Come Dancing' judge Len Goodman has died. He was 78.
Goodman, who was suffering from bone cancer, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday.
He was head judge on 'Strictly Come Dancing' from its first series in 2004 until 2016, and also appeared as a judge on the US version, 'Dancing with the Stars', from 2005 to 2022.
The BBC described him as a "wonderful, warm enterttainer who was adored by millions.
"Len was at the very heart of Strictly's success. He will be hugely missed by the public and his many friends and family."
Goodman began his working life as a welder before taking up dancing at 19 for a foot injury, on the advice of a doctor. He turned professional but retired from dancing in his late twenties after winning the British Championships. His TV career began a new era for him in 2004 when he was asked to judge on 'Strictly' alongside Arlene Phillips, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli.
He is survived by his wife Sue, and his son from a previous relationship, James.
After the news had broken via BBC Breakfast this morning, many of his colleagues took to Twitter to share their memories of him.
