You can put it down to a lack of self belief on the part of Tom Hardy or else Leonardo DiCaprio's good intuition. Either way, Tom Hardy now has to get a tattoo designed by his The Revenant co-star.
Hardy told Esquire that he made a bet with Oscar winner Leo that he wouldn't be Oscar nominated for his brilliant performance as the villain, John Fitzgerald, in The Revenant.
DiCaprio knew a thing a or two about getting Oscar nominated (having been nominated five times but never winning at that stage) and bet his co-star that he would be recognised by the Oscar voters.
The bet was that the loser would have to get a tattoo designed by the winner.
“I haven’t got it yet because it sucks.” Hardy said.
“He wrote, in this really s—-y handwriting: ‘Leo knows everything,’ ” shared Hardy. “Ha! I was like, ‘OK, I’ll get it done, but you have to write it properly.’ ”
Considering Hardy has a tattoo of the name of the agent who got him into Hollywood, we wouldn't be surprised if he honours the ridiculous bet.
