The two played on-screen romances in You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, both of which are iconic romantic comedies.
Tom Hanks recently played a cameo role in Meg Ryan’s film Ithaca, a World War II drama which stars the actress and is her directorial debut.
Speaking with EW, Ryan described the film as ‘a very simple story about complicated things’, ‘a labor of love’ that was ‘about how fierce and frail life really is.’
On Hanks’ role in the film, she said: ‘He’s just so dear. He so did not have to do that. It took him a day to [shoot his scene].
‘At the end of his time, he says to the crew, “All right, gather ‘round. Listen, I know we’ve gotten to know each other very well over the last 10 hours together, but I just want to thank you for being here for my friend Meg.” It was such an act of friendship. I love him so much.’
Feeling a bit emotional now…
