To be fair, Storm Imogen seems like yonks ago given how relentlessly frequent the storms have been since November. Still, at least we have a reported heatwave to look forward to from May (more on that below).
Met Eireann have issued no less than four weather warnings, which are in place this morning. We have one Status Orange alert for Wind across "coastal fringes of the north, west and south"; another wind warning for the whole of the country; a status Yellow alert for "snow-ice Warning for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal", and lastly another Status Yellow for "Coastal fringes of the north, west and south."
While the weather warnings are only in place 'til this morning, Ireland AM reports that "Storm Jake will continue today with heavy showers throughout the day."
While March has certainly "come in like a lion" fingers crossed it will "go out like a lamb" according to the saying. Either way, forecasters are predicting that we're set to get s heatwave this summer, kicking off in May (which is great news for all those who'll be heavily pregnant by then).
The Liberal are reporting that a "leading meteorologist" by the name James Madden from Exacta Weather had this to say: ”As things stand, Ireland can start to look forwards to some nice weather towards the end of May, as high pressure starts to dominate proceedings. It looks like there’ll be lengthy periods of warm sunshine and above average temperatures between late May and July and although question marks surround the August period, it will certainly be a big improvement on anything we have experienced in recent years”.
If it's as good as 2013, we'll take that.
