Smartphone batteries are getting better all the time, but we still have to charge them pretty much every day for a few hours.
Well, what if that was shortened down to just a few minutes, or, more accurately, one minute? Well that's exactly what the folks at Store Dot have come up with, after years of research and working hard to get all that power in to a battery that would be small enough to fit in your phone.
They unveiled the product at CES, which uses nanotechnology to get your phone from empty to a full charge in under 60 seconds. Thanks to the technology, the battery will also hold its charge for longer, and they expect the batteries to last up to three years.
The long term plan is for the company also to expand in to making batteries for electric cars, which would also charge in a few minutes, and they've gotten two significant rounds of funding to help their research, including one "by a leading Asian cell phone manufacturer". The days of running out of battery are numbered, it appears.
