The 64th Annual Tony Awards (known formally as The Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre) took place last night at the Radio City Music Hall in New York and was attended by some of the biggest names in show business. The awards recognise achievements in live theatre and broadway and are presented by both The American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.

Amongst last nights winners was Catherine Zeta Jones who won the award for Best Actress in a Musical. It seems that Catherine became a little overwhelmed and began spewing out, what can only be described as utter embarrassing garbage. As she waltzed on stage to collect the coveted award, her acceptance speech went a little something like this. "I would like to thank Alexander Hanson, director Trevor Nunn and the delicious and wonderful Angela Lansbury". Then came the following, I'm cringing as I type this...."See that man there? (points at Michael Douglas) He's a movie star and I get to sleep with him every night."..... Yes, Catherine Zeta Jones actually let those few words out of her mouth. Afterwards, and after letting her verbal slip up sink in, she had the following to say backstage; "I can't believe I said something like that. Just can't believe I said something as crass as that. Boy, I could have said something worse and then I'd really be in trouble. Mind you, the problem with saying that I get to sleep with Michael every night is that it was done on television and it's on tape forever".

The next big winner of the night was Scarlett Johansson who won an award for possibly the longest named category in the history of award ceremonies. Katie Holmes and Daniel Radcliffe (who looked like a midget standing next to Mrs Cruise) presented the actress with the award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for A View From A Bridge. She kept her speech short and sweet. "Ever since I've been a little girl, I've wanted to be on Broadway" and on declaring her love for her other half, she didn't take any pointers from Mrs Douglas, "To my Canadian, whom I live with, Ryan (Reynolds) thank you for becoming a theatre widower with me."

Other attendees included the stunning Helen Mirren, Mrs Fletcher, aka Angela Lansbury, Paula Abdul, Cate Blanchett in some sort of cyber futuristic suit, Ricky 'Im gay' Martin, yer wan Lea Michele who plays Rachel from Glee, Antonio Banderas and his wife Melanie Griffith, Christopher Walkin (who was looking a little peaky) and then these two.

That's really all the major news from the night itself. Here are a list of all the winners and of course, a gallery of dresses and bow ties for your viewing pleasure *smiles*
