Marriage equality is one step closer to being made law, as the Marriage Bill 2015 today officially passed through all of the necessary stages in the Seanad.
The bill is now to be sent to President Michael D Higgins for it to be signed into law.
Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald has said that "today is a joyous day", and made reference to the possibility of a number of Christmas time weddings.
As you can imagine, everyone (or at least 62.1% of us) is delighted, and it didn't take long for the good news to spread over social media.

The referendum, which took place on May 22nd, saw just under two million voters get into the polling booths, with 1,201,607 people voting Yes and 734,300 swinging the other way.
