Legends are made, not born and this year saw many an Irish person rise to the status of legendary. From sport to politics to literature and pop culture, we were swamped with Irish people being deadly but who was your favourite?
Was it President Michael D. Higgins after his brilliant speech to the European Parliament? Or did sports stars do it for you, such as Conor McGregor's MMA greatness, or Bernard Brogan bringing the Sam Maguire home to Dublin? Or did the Irish women's rugby team's Grand Slam tick your proverbial box?
Maybe you're more into the arts, and think that Seamus Heaney posthumously deserves the status of legend? Or if TV is more your bag, perhaps it was Jennifer Maguire and her general deadliness on RTÉ or Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as everyone's favourite scumbag Nidge? Or maybe you think that with all her open letters to Miley Cyrus and others, Sinead O'Connor deserves the title.
Well whatever your preference, we want to know, so get voting in our annual awards, The Erics. And then on January 30th, we're having the shindig to end all shindigs in The Button Factory, with sets from Le Galaxie, O Emperor, Gavin James and Cave Ghosts as well as plenty of other hijinks to celebrate all that was great in 2013.
Want to join us? Well tickets are a measly €12. Yes, twelve quid. Buy one for you, and one for someone's stocking/Secret Santa, and then have the night of your life with us come January (we're excellent dancers).
