The hosting of Wales at the Aviva Stadium in tonight's World Cup 2018 qualifier was one of the most anticipated International football games in recent memory. So naturally the event didn't really live up to expectations.
Sadly the whole night was marred by the horrific injury that Seamus Coleman suffered from a Neil Taylor tackle. But there were plenty of other talking points from the game, including the abysmal football that was on display in the first half and the trumpet player in the crowd that seemed to draw the ire of both sets of fans.
Here's how it all went down on Twitter.
There were plenty of head to heads to look forward to from the game but none more so than this.

A class act from Wales saw their captain, Ashley Williams present President Higgins with a number 5 Welsh jersey in honour of Ryan McBride who passed away during the week.

The football in the first half was a little poor.
Has anyone had a shot on goal yet? Either side?!! #EURO2016 #IRLWAL #COYBIG

Ok it was really poor.
I think we're deliberately trying to bore the Welsh to death with our football. If it works though.😮

But at least we had Twitter to distract us.

The poor quality of play was hardly the worst thing about the game in fairness.
Imagine, we had the gall to complain about vuvuzelas. #trumpet #IrevWal
