If you happen to be on TikTok, odds are you've come across the page @.baby.frogs.
If you haven't, here's a quick primer. Hannah McSorley, a young woman in Co. Tyrone, has spent her lockdown doing something other than baking banana bread. She's spent it growing tadpoles in her backyard. So far, she has nearly 38,000 tadpoles which are slowly developing into frogs.
That's right, you read that correctly. Actually, to be precise, 37,927 tadpoles as of earlier this week. That are growing into frogs, day by day.

The short videos of her tadpole farm have gone viral on TikTok and Twitter, with everyone from comedian Kevin McGahern to singer-songwriter Ryan Hennessy picking up on her exploits. Meanwhile, her TikTok account now has over 500,000 followers with 8.9 million likes, with daily updates from the tadpoles' pool.
So, what happens when they reach maturity? That's a good question. Normally, tadpoles eat each other when they're at that stage before they become a froglet, and the metamorphosis normally lasts around 12 to 15 weeks depending on water and food supply before they're fully evolved to adult size.
By all accounts, Hannah appears to have them all cared for, so maybe she'll keep them? Who knows. You can follow the account on Twitter here or search @.baby.frogs on TikTok.
