For a lot of users of music streaming services, having access to video content is essential.
We personally have never really had the desire to watch the video for a particular track we're listening to but it seems we're the exception rather than the rule. To that end, services like Tidal and Apple Music have been able to capitalise by having exclusive rights to certain video premieres.
Now Spotify are looking to catch up with their competitors by getting in on the action. However they're looking to step outside of the realm of music to do it. Rather than offer exclusive music videos they're going to be streaming video content from the likes of ESPN, Comedy Central, MTV, BBC and Vice News.
The service will only be available to app users however. Android users can access the content in the browse section of the app now while iOS users should be able to access it in the coming days.
Spotify will be hoping that this move will help them reclaim their throne as the number one service out there.
