Alan Shatter’s novel Laura gets the all clear from the censor

It’s been a bad week for Alan Shatter, and…well, a bad few months. He’s been under some constant pressure which forced him into handing over his resignation earlier this week.

However, there has been some good news for the embattled former minister, and now that he has a bit more time on his hands, it’s surely the best news he’s had all week: His steamy novel Laura: A Novel You Will Never Forget has been given the all clear from the censor after allegations that it was a bit too lewd by one particular reader.

Although the book was written over 20 years ago, the complaint was made last year according to The Independent, on the grounds that it encouraged abortion and that it contained several steamy passages, which caused the book to hit headlines again, boosting sales in shops all over the country. Late in April, however, the board who were examining the complaint decided that no action be taken against Shatter or the publishers as a result, and that news has surfaced today.

Time to whip out the aul typewriter again there, Alan.
