Thinking of making a career change? Then you should probably check out this chart on which profession makes the most money.
A recent survey has shown just how much money each profession makes, and it may make you wish that you'd followed through on your promise to study to become an anesthesiologist after all, despite your family's objections and insisting that you enroll at the country's most prestigious Clown College instead.
The stats are based on figures gained from the Department of Labour in the US, and although they are in dollars, and are based on the wages there, we can be fairly confident that the numbers would be pretty similar over here.
Top of the pile are all the medical professionals, with the aforementioned anesthesiologists topping the chart at $235,000 (€172,000) along with surgeons, orthodontists, psychiatrists and pretty much all the people who can put Dr. in front of their name.

Our beloved Chief Executives are the only people to break into that top tier who aren't medical folk (bright pink on the chart), but as you scroll a bit down the list further towards the $100k mark, you see plenty more folks from the financial sector. A few surprising additions in there include Mathematicians who also earn over $100K (€73,000) and Astronomers too, which really makes us wish we'd paid more attention in Maths class. So that's what they meant when they said reach for the stars...
Speaking of, teachers and education professionals (represented in purple on the chart) are perched somewhere in the middle of the list, earning around $55,000 (€40,000), depending on what subject they take. Post-secondary educators are also a step above that into the $60,000 and above area.
Down at the bottom, the jobs are mainly in the service industry, and the lowest paid job for which there is data available is fast food cook.
