It goes without saying that not only is Serena Williams a total badass at her profession, but she's won legions of fans for her banter - whether it's remaking a Beyoncé video, Snapchatting with Kate Middleton or telling a reporter where to go when he asks her to 'smile'.
However, the tennis star has shown that she also has a soft side, as her announcement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian exhibits.
The couple kept their relationship quite private and have rarely been pictured together - but are now set to get hitched after Williams posted a poem to Reddit revealing that Ohanian had proposed after whisking her away to Rome, where by all accounts, they first met "at a lunch".
The poem read:
"I came home / A little late / Someone had a bag packed for me /And a carriage awaited /Destination: Rome /To escort me to my very own "charming" / Back to where our stars first collided / And now it was full circle / At the same table we first met by chance / This time he made it not by chance /But by choice / Down on one knee / He said 4 words And r/isaidyes."
New York-born entrepreneur Ohanian is 33 and co-founded social news aggregation site Reddit with Steve Huffman in 2005. He has written several best-selling books about business and is believed to have started dating Williams in October 2015.
