More people have died while trying to take a selfie this year than from shark attacks.

The stat, as shocking as it is, makes sense when you start when you start to consider the number of incidents that arise every month of people being injured while taking selfies are idiotic times. There was the guy with the bull, the guy with the snake, and the the genius who took one in front of a burning dumpster

Thankfully all of those people survived, but the list doesn't end there, because people love turning their back to dangerous animals so they can get get in the photo too. Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky to escape alive.

So far this year 12 people have died while taking photos of themselves, compared to that of 8 shark attacks. The list includes a tourist falling down stairs at the Taj Mahal, a woman being gored by a bison at Yellowstone National Park, and there have even been a couple cases involved selfies and guns.

The problem has actually resulted in the Russian government introducing a Safe Selfie campaign, here it is.

The motto goes “even a million ‘likes’ on social media are not worth your life and well-being”. Yeah, Russian people are giving the world advice on safety. If you don't see a problem with that, have a look at this
