As a multi-oscar winner and a culturally significant film, 12 Years A Slave has a lot that's worth taking note of. Fashion is probably not one of them.

Sainsbury's decision to market the DVD of 12 Years a Slave alongside a mannequin toting 'a look' from the movie has been fairly controversial after an image of the display hit the internet and social media recently.

According to The Independent, the display was spotted in an Oxford branch of the supermarket chain, and if you look closely you can even spot a twig in one of the pockets, for some reason.

Although the clothes aren't advertised as being for sale, the decision will have to go down as a pretty poor one from the marketing and PR team in that particular branch.

A spokesperson told the paper that "We can only apologise. It’s been taken down from the Heyford Hill store and clearly should never have gone up in the first place."
