A minute's silence was observed at the Connacht Senior football final yesterday following the tragic death of a young GAA player from Mayo. Darragh Walsh from the Neale in Co. Mayo was killed in a road traffic accident in Qatar on Thursday.

He had just arrived in the country only a couple of weeks previously in an effort to find work. He came from a well known GAA family and his father is Gerry Walsh, the chairman of the local GAA club in the Neale. Even though Daragh had only recently arrived in Qatar, it seems he had made an impression with the local GAA club as Qatar GAA paid their respects on twitter '“RIP Darragh Walsh from all @QatarGAA who were only just getting to know you. Deepest sympathies to your family, friends and @MayoGAA.”
