Rowan Atkinson was hospitalised on last night after crashing his £650,000 'supercar' in the leafy countryside.

The Blackadder star reportedly lost control of his McLaren F1 motor in Cambridgeshire and smashed into a tree and then a lamppost. It then burst into flames. Emergency services attended the scene and Atkinson was taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for a shoulder injury, according to The Sun.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service says, "We were called to a single car road traffic collision at 7.30pm... A male was taken to Peterborough General Hospital with a shoulder injury. It was a minor shoulder injury. The occupant was out of the car when we arrived."

He's one lucky old bean. Apologies.
