When you're a Hollywood actor, promotional junkets are part and parcel of releasing a film.
True, it means that you have to answer the same inane questions on 4-minute loops many times over, but them's the breaks.
However, when confronted with a radio DJ/personality who thinks they're being hilarious - as Keanu Reeves was when he was interviewed by Capital FM's Roman Kemp - it's another thing entirely.
Reeves is on the promo circuit for the new 'John Wicks' film, and Kemp's interview with him has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
The radio DJ is known for his whimsical, tongue-in-cheek presenting style, but it seemed to befuddle Reeves, who didn't quite know how to take Kemp's jokes about 'John Wicks' sounding like 'Wickes the hardware store', and how many times he has played a character called John in his movies.
In fairness to Capital FM, they pre-empted any backlash by captioning the interview with 'Is this the most awkward interview of all time?' - but the damage has been done.
