Reports emerged last week that Rihanna had most definitely been bitten by the football bug after the World Cup and that she was looking to invest in a club.
While no team had been mentioned, she was apparently determined that it should be a Premier League club (we're not sure anyone told her how much it would cost or that she was likely to lose a decent wedge of cash, at least at the start) but it seems that she has taken some advice and has finally chosen the lucky team that she wants to invest in.
Her good friend Dider Drogba (let that sink in for a second) has been offering her his opinion, according to Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo, and he has suggested that she invest that money burning a hole in her pocket in Liverpool Football Club.
Although Drogba is currently a member of the Chelsea squad, he might have advised her to invest in Liverpool as she could join the ranks of other celebrity investors like LeBron James who are also involved in the Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the company which owns the Anfield club, and are unlikely to sell any time soon.
While it all seems a bit far-fetched, you never know what can happen in football, as they say, but an investment in FSG looks a more likely option than her buying the club outright. If nothing else, she may be able to do a funky new version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' for the club, or perhaps even an updated version of 'The Anfield Rap'.
Of course, Twitter has already started with the jokes about the whole deal...
If @rihanna buys @LFC I expect lots of 0-0 draws so we can beat them 'Pon De Replay!
