If you play golf, you’re going to want to check this out. If you don’t pay golf, you’re going to want to start.
Professional golfer Bubba Watson has co-developed the world's first hovercraft golf cart and it looks like a lot of fun... not to mention functional.
Speaking on his inspiration for this new piece of golfing tech Bubba said: "Let’' have fun: Go through the water hazard, come off the other side right by the green. Put your ball in the hole and then you can drive back across the water hazard... and who doesn’t want to do that?!"
The BW1 can zoom seamlessly across fragile greens, sand traps and water hazards at speeds up to 55 mph and has enough room for four people and two golf bags.
Back in April when Bubba first announced this innovation to the world, only the prototype hovercraft existed - which Bubba and his mates probably hogged for themselves. But now the Windy Knoll Golf Club in Ohio has purchased two of the vehicles, which can soon be rented out by their members. The Golf Club will unveil their new arrivals on July 27th at their first annual Hover Bash.
Managing director Pete Duffry has this to say: "We wanted to be able to offer something no other course could. A way to further put Windy Knoll Golf Club on the map of public destination golf courses. It was an easy decision. When we saw them on YouTube, we said 'We gotta have those!'"
They've yet to mention just how much it set you back to rent a BW1 but considering they cost $58,000 (€45,260) each, we reckon it’s gonna be a fair whack.
