Regé-Jean Page has offered a response since the publication of a report that revealed he once auditioned to play Superman's grandfather.
Regé-Jean Page would be best known for his role as Simon Bassett, also known as the Duke of Hastings, on 'Bridgerton'.
According to a report from THR, he auditioned to play Superman's grandfather in the series 'Krypton' before launching to stardom in the Netflix series.
DC and Warner Bros. were initially looking at some non-traditional casting for the role.
However, Geoff Johns, the former Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of DC Entertainment and overseer of the project, vetoed the idea, saying that Superman could not have a Black grandfather.
A rep for Johns defended him, saying that fans would have expected the character to look like a young Henry Cavill.
Regé-Jean Page responded to the report on Twitter.
He wrote: "Hearing about these conversations hurts no less now than it did back then. The clarifications almost hurt more tbh.
"Still just doing my thing. Still we do the work. We still fly."
While Regé-Jean Page will not be back for season 2 of 'Bridgerton', he has numerous projects in the pipeline.
He is currently filming 'Dungeons & Dragons', which features an all-star cast, led by Chris Pine. He also recently wrapped on 'The Gray Man' from the Russo Brothers, starring opposite Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.
