Ah, St. Patrick's Day. What a time it is, to be sure.
While it's always something of an event everywhere else, for Irish people it's a different kind of day. Some love it, some just enjoy the day off in the middle of the week, and others find it a parochial nightmare that reinforces harmful stereotypes about Ireland. All in all, it's a complicated day for some Irish people.
However, if there's one thing that brings us all together, it's making fun of people trying to speak Irish on a day like St. Patrick's Day. It's also fair to say that it doesn't get much better when it's the future King of England, Prince William, trying it on for size. You know, after his ancestors tried to wipe out the language and basically tried to murder us all a couple of hundred years ago.
Anyway, this video has gone viral on Twitter not because of the content per se, but because of everyone ripping the ever-loving piss out of it and Prince William as well. And friends, remember, it's St. Patrick's Day. If we can't rip the piss out of British royalty on a day like St. Patrick's Day, when can we?
