Police in Ohio have identified those involved in a horrible 'prank' that saw an autistic teen get soaked in urine, spit and faeces while attempting to perform the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has been hitting the headlines all over the world for the past month or so, and recently it was in the news for the wrong reasons, after a 15-year-old fell victim to the reprehensible actions of a few others who dumped a mix of urine, spit and faeces over him instead of the ice water that the challenge normally uses.
The perpetrators filmed it all on the teen's phone, and then uploaded it to Instagram. The mother of the boy who fell victim to these actions discovered the video and alerted the police, after which the story gained international attention, as celebrities such as Drew Carey, Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg all made donations to help incentivise people into coming forward with any information that could help find those responsible.
Police confirmed to CNN yesterday that they had identified those involved, but that they weren't going to release any names or details yet as the investigation was still ongoing. Police Chief Mark Spaetzel said they were conducting a "comprehensive investigation", and they have been fairly tight-lipped on any other details.
At the moment, it is unclear as to whether the donations did help the case, but even if the police found the perpetrators on their own without help from the public, the money pledged by celebrities will go to a local charity, Autism Speaks.
