People are making a big deal out of the fact Van Morrison has been pictured merrily smiling away after being knighted by Prince Charles. And sure why wouldn't he be smiling? He's there sharing this amazing moment with his daughter. Plus, now people are obliged to call him Sir Ivan Morrison! 


Speaking outside Buckingham Palace's ballroom yesterday, the Belfast native said: "It's amazing, it's very exhilarating, the whole thing. For 53 years I've been in the business - that's not bad for a blue-eyed soul singer from east Belfast."

When asked what himself and Charles conversed about before planting a sword on his shoulder, the 70-year-old added: "He was just saying, was I still writing? And he said: 'You're not going to retire any time soon?' And I said: 'No, I'm not, I'm going to keep it going while I can'."
