If you love animals (and come on, who doesn’t?), prepare to say ‘Awww’ over and over again.
Zoos and aquariums across the US yesterday participated in a very important #CuteAnimalTweetOff. The loveliest part is everyone’s a winner.
It began when Smithsonian's National Zoo released a press release announcing the birth of the most adorable baby grey seal in the world.
We welcomed a gray seal pup Jan. 21. The pup appears to be nursing, moving & bonding well w/ mom. https://t.co/l0Bzu7g8ek #Squee pic.twitter.com/nEhuJe6vBk

After this, a twitter user named Sarah Hill teased Virginia Aquarium to step up to the challenge, and the aquarium gladly obliged:
Your move @VAAquarium ;-) https://t.co/lhBwalpprO

The two then began a Twitter ‘war’:
.@VAAquarium This is Redd, our endangered Bornean orangutan infant. And he is the cutest. Do you fold yet? #challengeaccepted pic.twitter.com/ED6WiZun1R

And so other zoos and aquariums followed suit, the results of which are truly stunning:
