Dozens of traffic lights have been altered in Vienna to show same-sex couples ahead of this year's 60th Eurovision contest which will be held there on May 23rd. (Yes, the day after the Referendum folks, hopefully there will be many the Eurovision celebration...)

Last year's host Copenhagen made a similar move to welcome the LBGT community by organising a number of same-sex weddings in the city.

A spokeswoman for Vienna's city lighting department told Reuters that the campaign is intended to present Vienna as an open-minded city and also to improve traffic safety as the unusual symbols attract the attention of drivers and pedestrians.

Win/Win.
