IS EVERYTHING A LIE?
It can't just have been us that imagined that all fire alarms were part of some sort of very heavily mechanised and important system, and that the act of pulling an alarm (as forbidden as it is) resulted in a whirl of cogs and levers and sprinklers and all sorts. No? Just us that are massively disappointed to learn that inside the lever that you always secretly want to pull but don't for fear of getting in trouble is actually just this?
A simple switch. How boring and conventional and obvious. There is officially no more magic in the world.
