You're probably aware that Phil Hogan landed himself in big trouble this weekend. It emerged that the EU Commissioner attended the Oireachtas Golf Society dinner in Clifden last week. It also came to light that he was stopped by gardaí for using his phone while driving in Kildare, which is under lockdown.

Understandably there has been a huge public outcry against the commissioner. Many are calling for Phil Hogan, who has issued a series of statements and apologies over his activities, to resign.

It'll ultimately be up to the European Commission as opposed to the Irish government as to what actions will be taken against him next.

In the meantime, amidst the very justified anger, Twitter is also producing some pretty amusing memes about Hogan.
