In baby news that's not royal, Penelope Cruz has given birth to her second child (who we really hope becomes bezzies with the royal baby at some point in the future, and they swap lives for a day á la Freaky Friday).

The 39-year-old actress and her husband Javier Bardem, 44, welcomed their second child into the world, HELLO! magazine has confirmed. We'd say she's delighted with the timing, seeing as the world was staring at London waiting for the royal baby to come into the world and not stalking Cruz, who was admitted to Ruber Internacional hospital in Madrid, Spain, on Monday evening.

The notoriously private couple have yet to provide any further details about the baby, including the child's weight, sex and name. It's the second child for the couple who already have two-year-old son Leonardo. 'I want my son and my kids - if I have more - to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible.' she said recently. 'The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work we do doesn't give anybody the right to invade our privacy.'

Penelope and Javier were in Madrid attending the Los Veranos de la Villa Music Festival, and were out and about and active up until Saturday, which cuts it pretty close to the wire.
