Paul O'Connell's future has been the subject of much speculation, but the strong rumours linking him to France appear to be true.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport, Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal stated that the former Munster man was headed to France to join the club, after he had been released from the end of his contract with Munster and Ireland that was due to run until June of 2016.

Reports earlier this week in the French media had speculated that O'Connell's move may have hit a speed bump, after there was speculation that they were concerned over an old shoulder injury and they would wait until after the World Cup to sign him, but the deal was sealed last night ahead of the transfer deadline in France.

O'Connell's deal will last for two years, and will bring plenty of experience in the wake of the retirement of Bakkies Botha and Ali Williams from the club at the end of the season.
