He is undoubtedly one of the biggest Irish actors of his generation, but it seems as though Paul Mescal is still grappling with the challenges of fame.
The 'Normal People' actor, who is currently filming 'Gladiator 2' with Ridley Scott, has spoken about the media intrusion into his life in a new interview.
Mescal, who deleted his Instagram several years back, had a high-profile relationship with musician Phoebe Bridgers which ended late last year.
Now, in a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, he said that his private life is "nobody else’s business because it’s indecent".
The 27-year-old continued: "And it’s unkind,” he said. "Honest answer, it makes me angry… It’s the entitlement to the information that people expect that just drives me mad."
"If I’m going to make TV shows like Normal People, there’s going to be an appetite from the world," he admitted, but said that "Eighty per cent of that is palatable. And then twenty per cent of it is devastating."
Mescal will next star in 'queer romance' film 'All of Us Strangers' alongside his fellow Irish actor Andrew Scott, as well as Claire Foy and Jamie Bell.
