It's all well and good getting passionate about your ideals, your dreams and what you believe is right. But for you to have a chance to make a difference and make a change, you have to register to vote. Marriage, or the option of marriage is something a lot of us who are legally allowed to do take for granted.
It's also not all that bad, right? We mean, mother-in-law jokes aside and all that... So we've put together a list of some of our favourite married couples.
Aengus Mac Grianna and Terry Gill
Earlier this year, RTE's most famous news anchor wedded his partner in spectacular style - they had the lead singer of Clannad crooning them down the aisle, Ann Doyle was Best Man, and even the sun put in an appearance. To top it all off, RTE published an article divulging all about their "wedding balls." Why are they one of our favourite couples? It's not every news anchor who'd take the time to thank people for their nice comments... FYI, he never uses "fake tan ever. Skin colour really is my own! It never washes off! Aengus x x"
Brian O'Driscoll and Amy Huberman
She is a master of acting, comedy, writing, shoe designing, Newbridge Silverware peddling, and being sound. He is the person nearly every man in this country would love to be. They are undoubtedly the number 1 hitched couple we'd love to go for a few swifties with because you'd be guaranteed a laugh in a bullsh*t free zone (we're choosing to ignore the fact that Brian insisted on having a hot tub in his back garden during the Celtic Tiger. Everyone makes mistakes). The couple, who married on July 3rd 2010, are expecting their second child to burst on to the scene before Christmas.
Nick Offerman & Megan Mullaly
If ever there was a couple that, on the surface, seem like polar opposites, it's Megan Mullally from Will & Grace and Nick Offerman from Parks & Rec. Offerman, who plays Ron Swanson in the hit sitcom, is a outdoors-man and skilled woodworker in his spare time. Not only that, he keeps a fine beard and is the epitome of 19th century ruggedness. Megan Mullally starred in campy classic sitcom Will & Grace and is a Broadway musical star. On paper, it shouldn't work. Yet, their innate differences works for them. Their chemistry together on-screen is palpable and they play off their differences with ease.
Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward
On record as one the longest-lasting Hollywood marriages - 50 years - Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman's marriage was an institution as old as Hollywood itself. Not only did they work together in classics such as The Long, Hot Summer, their charitable and philanthropic work together was well-known. The epitome of 1960's class and style, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were picture-perfect in every way.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
While we may have rooted for Barney Stinson to be with Robin in How I Met Your Mother, the only person we ever want to see by Neil Patrick Harris' side is his husband David Burtka. Small piece of TV trivia for you, Burtka actually played the character of Scooter in this series, who you will remember as Lily's doting ex-boyfriend. Yep, our minds were blown too. It appears this is how the pair actually met back in 2004, and it was their relationship that led Harris to coming out in 2006. The pair then went on to get engaged, adopt twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace and happily tied the knot just last September, where Elton John, no less, performed at the reception. Ten years on and this couple are still Legend-wait for it! (Sorry we had to) Dary!
Ellen De Generes and Portia de Rossi
If there was ever a couple you would like to invite you over to dinner it's this pair. Ellen would be busting some moves, Portia would be inviting you to guest star on the next series of Arrested Development, it would be great craic altogether. Married six years and together ten, these two are one of the few Hollywood couples you really feel can go the distance, with Ellen saying recently that she falls more in love with Portia every day. N'aww.
