North Korea's latest insult to the United States and life in the West centres around the fact that they have decadent parties for their dogs, one of whom looks very familiar.
The report was on the disparity between rich and poor in the United States is a serious issue, but the North Korean state-run news channel KCTV might not have fact checked everything they used as evidence all that rigorously.
In the clip, the commentator Lee Chung-song compares the plight of the homeless in the country who live in boxes on the street to the very wealthiest people, who are apparently spending their money on having fancy birthday parties for their dogs. Riley, the dog in the picture, is of course a famous meme, who went viral a few years ago after his owner posted a picture of him sitting down to enjoy a birthday cake, complete with paper hat.
Riley appears at 4:48 in the clip, and while the meme doesn't really belong, they might actually have a decent point here about the gap between rich and poor in general.
