Their Super Mario Run smartphone game was a huge success when it was released last year - and now Nintendo are planning to make a mobile version of one of their most iconic games available next year.
A mobile version of Mario Kart - called Mario Kart Tour - is in the works and is set to be released “the fiscal year ending in March 2019”, according to the Japanese games giant.
Mario Kart was first released in 1992 and has survived various consoles - indeed, even growing in popularity when it was released for the Wii in 2008 - is a firm favourite with fans. 'Mario Kart Tour' will be available on both iOS and Android.
What's more, an animated Super Mario movie is also in the works, with Nintendo working with Illumination - the studio behind Minions and Despicable Me. So far, little is known about the film - which was first rumoured back in November - apart from the fact that it'll be co-produced by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meladandri, the man responsible for the Despicable Me franchise.
It's a good time for Nintendo to capitalise on the renewed popularity of their most iconic games character, considering Super Mario Odyssey - the latest installment for their Switch console - has sold over 9 million copies since its October 2017 release.
