In "I-can't-believe-this-is-actually-a-thing" news, Texas has passed a new allowing the open carrying of swords or machetes in a public place.

The law allows for swords or machetes "more than 5.5 inches in length" to be carried by anyone, however the law restricts one from carrying sword or machete into most bars, schools, colleges, sporting events, polling places, race parks, correctional facilities, hospitals, amusement parks or places of worship.

So, if you plan on having a sword fight with someone, best to keep it out in public for everyone to see and possibly record in the annals of great swordfights.

Here's an actual news item from Texas' ABC13 News Channel on the subject, just to prove we're not lying. No wording in the law, however, covered the use of maces, morning-stars, lances, battle-axes, tri-swords, glaives, warhammers or billhooks.
