The singer has given her first in-depth interview about the incident.
Back in August we brought you news of a court case involving Taylor Swift and David Mueller, a radio DJ she alleged assaulted her while the pair posed for a photo in 2013.
She privately informed station bosses and Mueller was fired. He then sued and Swift countersued and won a symbolic $1. At the time she was praised for her confident, and at times, fierce demeanour in the witness stand.
“This man hadn’t considered any formalities when he assaulted me, and his lawyer didn’t hold back on my mom—why should I be polite? I’m told it was the most amount of times the word “ass” has ever been said in Colorado Federal Court,” she told Time Magazine, as part of their Person of the Year piece.
Following a whole host of sexual assault allegations emanating out of Hollywood in recent months, Swift had advice for others possibly going through the same ordeal.
“My advice is that you not blame yourself and do not accept the blame others will try to place on you,” she said.
“When the jury found in my favor, the man who sexually assaulted me was court-ordered to give me a symbolic $1. To this day he has not paid me that dollar, and I think that act of defiance is symbolic in itself,” she said.
