Adnan Syed, the subject of the 2014 podcast Serial, has been granted a new trial.
Syed was convicted of first-degree murder of his former girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 2000, who was found in a Baltimore park weeks after she had disappeared the previous year. In 2016, he was first granted a new trial after Serial's investigation, led by Sarah Koenig, had generated new interest in on the case and cast doubt on his guilt - but the state had appealed the decision.
Now, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals has upheld the decision to grant a new trial for the now-37-year-old.
Details on when it might be held are not yet available, but we can expect this to be a pretty high-profile case.
