The musician and record producer gave a wide-ranging interview to Vulture that touched on The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Donald Trump.
Here’s what he had to say about Marlon Brando:
“He was the most charming motherf**ker you ever met. He’d f**k anything. Anything! He’d f*k a mailbox. James Baldwin. Richard Pryor. Marvin Gaye.
Interviewer: He slept with them? How do you know that?
[Frowns.] Come on, man. He did not give a f*ck! You like Brazilian music?”
The internet was sceptical when the interview was released but Richard Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Lee, confirmed it in equally colourful fashion:
“It was the ’70s! Drugs were still good, especially quaaludes. If you did enough cocaine, you’d f**k a radiator and send it flowers in the morning,” she said to TMZ. “Richard would have no shame about Quincy’s comments.”
Brando and Pryor don’t seem like such an unlikely pairing when you consider that Pryor wrote in his autobiography that he slept with men for a period of time.
In the 1970’s Brando, who was openly bisexual, said: “Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences, and I am not ashamed. I have never paid much attention to what people think about me. But if there is someone who is convinced that Jack Nicholson and I are lovers, may they continue to do so. I find it amusing.”
So, now you know.
And to answer your question Quincy, we love Brazilian music.
