Met Éireann's annual list of storm names for the remainder of 2017 and 2018 has been announced.

The list, which is made up in conjunction with the UK Met Office, works in a similar fashion to the American system of naming hurricanes and storms - so as to provide people with the same names endless days of jokes about them being a weather system. It's also to delineate between different storms, but mainly that.

This year will see - if the weather gets particularly bad - Storm Aileen, Storm Brian, Storm Caroline and Storm Dylan hit the Northern Atlantic and Irish Sea. In all, a total of 21 names have been prepared, and there's even a Storm Winifred if things get really bad.

Here's the list of names in total.
