WhatsApp have just unveiled five new features in their latest update.

The Facebook owned messaging app has released the new update this week and if you're an iPhone user you can update it straight away from the App Store. The new update has also launched for Android too so nobody has to miss out.

Here are the five new features that come along with the update:

1. Enhanced Photo Sharing

The new feature let's you share pictures from other apps installed on your phone. Photos can be shared from Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive by simply opening the ‘Photo/Video Library’ option and selecting ‘choose from another app’.

2. Send and Receive Documents

You can now send PDFs through WhatsApp. Like the Enhanced Photo Sharing feature, you can just select them from other Apps such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive. There is a limit though as the app won't support documents any larger than 100MB.

3. Fixed Storage Issues

Some users have felt in the past that the app takes up too much storage on their phones. Well the developers have responded by reducing the amount of space the app requires to function.

4. Zoom in on Videos

We've always been able to zoom in on photos through the app but now we can zoom in on videos too.

5. Block Backgrounds

You can now replace the standard background with one of your choice. WhatsApp provides a variety of block colours to choose from, but you can just as easily choose your own one from your photo library. All you have to do is click on ‘Settings’ in the app’s menu.
