Meryl Streep's emotional speech in which she spoke out against the Donald Trump presidency has become the highlight of last night's Golden Globes with the six minute clip going viral overnight. 

However it seems the US President elect isn't too bothered about it as he shrugged Streep's criticisms off when asked about it by The New York Times. 

Trump dismissed Streep as a "Hillary lover" and said that he was "not surprised" to hear that "liberal movie people" were denouncing his past actions. 

The main criticism of Trump in Streep's speech focused on the now infamous moment in which he appeared to mock a disabled journalist at a rally. However Trump has re-interpreted that event and is claiming that he never mocked the reporter. 

“I was never mocking anyone," Trump told the NY Times. “I was calling into question a reporter who had gotten nervous because he had changed his story."

“People keep saying I intended to mock the reporter’s disability, as if Meryl Streep and others could read my mind, and I did no such thing.”

Trump also took the opportunity to assure the newspaper that he expects many celebrities to turn out for his inauguration on January 20th. 

“We are going to have an unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout for the inauguration, and there will be plenty of movie and entertainment stars,” he said.
