Actor Morgan Freeman is headed to Dublin next month for a very special appearance.
The RTE Concert Orchestra is 75 years old this year and is pulling out all the stops to celebrate - including a gig that will see the orchestra collaborate with US-based blues musician David O'Rourke on 'The Delta Blues Project'.
The 85-year-old Oscar-winning actor, best known for his roles in the likes of 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Driving Miss Daisy' and 'Se7en', will be the honorary MC at the event, which will feature the music of both the blues greats (Robert Johnson, BB King et al) and those who are inspired by them.
Freeman, meanwhile, is a well-known blues aficionado and is a co-owner of the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi, which "is considered the #1 Blues Club in the World."
The Delta Blues Project takes place on Sunday June 11th at O'Reilly Hall, UCD. Tickets are €35 plus booking fee and on sale now via this link.
