Molly Malone is still settling in to her new home outside the Tourist Office in Dublin, but having only been there a few short days, the statue has already been vandalised.
Molly was taken off the streets for a short period and given a bit of refurbishment before being moved to her new home, as Luas works near the bottom of Grafton Street meant that she would have to be put somewhere else.
Despite the fact that she was sparkling, shiny and like new again just last Friday, it took only a matter of days for some vandals to get their hands on the statue and leave their mark with graffiti.
Apart from being unsightly, there's also a huge cost involved in removing the graffiti on a regular basis, which The Dublin City Business Improvement District raised as a very valid point when they tweeted out the photo of the statue this morning.
We spend thousands each year removing graffiti from businesses. Now much loved public monuments targeted #disgrace pic.twitter.com/97xrw8zQAk
