With Roy Keane's odds slashed to become the next Celtic manager, Ireland boss Martin O'Neill has admitted that there has been an approach for his assistant.
Keane has been quick to deny any rumours of his moving to Celtic to take over the job vacated recently by Neil Lennon, but as speculation grows, Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has been forced to admit that the Scottish club has made an approach for his number two.
O'Neill described it as an "informal chat" at a press conference for an open training session this evening, and admitted both that Dermot Desmond had contacted him, and that he would be disappointed if Keane were to leave, but that big jobs like the one on offer aren't easy to come by:
O'Neill: "I'd be disappointed if he's gone but a club like Celtic is a very big club and these particular offers may not come around often"

He also added that Keane is going nowhere yet and he fully expects him to be by his side when the Ireland team take on Italy in Craven Cottage at the end of the month.
