Riyadh Khalaf, one of the most recognisable equality campaigners during the recent referendum, had his car attacked with acid this week.
The radio presenter and YouTube star found his car to be the victim of an acid attack outside of his family home in Bray, Co. Wicklow.
Speaking to The Irish Independent, Riyadh said he thought the attack had something to do with his part in the referendum campaign. "The only reason for this can be down to our recent work for equality and how public it was".
"Obviously somebody has figured out where we live, which is scary and dangerous".
A truly disgusting action, and we're all hoping that these criminals are caught and brought to justice, but Riyadh wouldn't let the attack dampen his spirits. "A small group of sick individuals will not change us or what we have all achieved. If this is the cost for a new Ireland then it is a tiny price to pay."
Acid poured on my family's cars outside our home overnight. Apparently by anti-equality individuals. Gardaí involved. pic.twitter.com/nnHZjW8QCX
